PERSPECTIVE

You Are Not Unusual

About half of the patients Dr. Alexander sees each year travel from outside Arizona — often from across the country. Some come specifically for ARTAS robotic FUE. Others travel because they have done their research and decided that Dr. Alexander is the right surgeon for their case regardless of distance.
Phoenix is easy to get to. The procedure is a single-day session. Most patients are comfortable on a return flight 48 hours after the procedure.

START HERE

The Virtual Consultation First

If you are traveling from outside the Phoenix area, the most efficient first step is a virtual consultation. Dr. Alexander can evaluate your case by video, give you an honest assessment of your candidacy and goals, and answer your questions before you book travel.

If surgery is appropriate and you decide to proceed, the in-person visit covers only what video cannot: a hands-on scalp examination and the procedure itself.
Virtual consultations are complimentary for patients 25 and over.

TRIP PLANNING

Planning Your Trip

How long should I plan to be in Phoenix?

The procedure is one day. Most out-of-state patients arrive the day before for the in-person pre-operative evaluation and depart the day after the procedure — a total of two to three days.

Can I fly home the day after the procedure?

Most patients can. Dr. Alexander will give you specific guidance based on your case and your recovery at the post-procedure check.

Where do patients typically stay?

Phoenix has a wide range of hotels near the practice. The team can provide general guidance on the area when you confirm your appointment.

Is there anything I need to bring?

Prescription-quality sun protection for your scalp for the return flight. Loose, front-opening clothing for the day of the procedure (no pullover shirts). Full instructions are provided before your visit.

AFTER YOU LEAVE

Communication During Recovery

Your recovery happens at home, away from the practice. Dr. Alexander’s team maintains contact throughout. Questions during recovery are answered directly by the practice – not a patient services call center.
Most out-of-state patients find that the distance from the practice is less of a factor in their recovery than they expected.

Start with a virtual consultation.

You will know whether traveling to Phoenix makes sense for your case after a single conversation.
